Sustainable Mobility Cooperation - Germany & The Netherlands #NLGERMobility

Sustainable mobility in the Netherlands is one of the levers to accelerate the transition towards a zero-emission society. Therefore, the Dutch government is striving to modernize its infrastructure and make it more sustainable. The goal is clear: in the future, mobility must not only be competitive, but also climate-friendly and intelligent.

As a country of innovation, the Netherlands stand for much more than just excellent and safe cycle paths. For example, we focus on the development of new drive systems and at the same time include technology and know-how for the expansion of the corresponding charging infrastructure. In the heavy-duty sector, this is preferably the hydrogen fuel cell, and for other applications, battery electric mobility. The Netherlands invests in smart mobility via the advantages of digitalization in the networking of vehicles, to enhance traffic flows and apply control technologies.

The Netherlands is a densely populated country. There is an urgent challenge to use new technologies to solve mobility, environmental and safety issues. At the same time, the Netherlands is a unique, Living Lab to develop and test Smart Mobility solutions and roll them out on a large scale. The Netherlands provides excellent opportunities for this.

The Netherlands wants to expand and further develop bilateral cooperation in order to jointly develop competitive, intelligent and climate-friendly mobility in model projects. This will enable our countries not only to learn from each other, but also to take on a pioneering role in many sectors at the European level and to benefit economically from the new mobility. In the Netherlands, we have already made good progress in redesigning mobility and infrastructure. The reason for our comparatively rapid development, is the use of state-of-the-art technology in planning and realisation, many years of experience in construction, as well as well-established cooperation in public-private partnerships (PPS). PPS is the way forward for sustainability in the Netherlands and beyond. In this way, we can work together more easily across borders and cooperate in preferred fields.
